The Life of a Chapman Pup

Notification List

To get on our notification list, fill out our Contact Form and provide us with your email. We email our notification list when we have updates regarding available puppies and info on current and upcoming litters. We don't often have puppies available on our website for long. They are typically adopted quickly once we email out our list.

Deposit List

Our deposit holders have the first pick of all available puppies before they are advertised to our notification list or on our website. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required to secure your spot on our deposit list. This is a holding fee for your pick-in line of current or future litters. Deposit holders make their picks of each litter when puppies are 3-5 weeks old. Picks are made in order of deposit received. Clear videos and pictures are provided of each puppy to help aid in the picking process. Picks are not made in person as the pups have not been vaccinated at this age. I email and text each deposit holder in order of deposits received to make a pick of the available puppies or passes. If someone passes on the available pups, they stay on our list and wait for the next litter. Their place in line will move up the list as others make their picks. Once a pick has been made, a $500 deposit is required to hold the pup until pick up at 8 weeks. I give email updates to deposit holders when females have been bred, pregnancies have been confirmed, and when puppies have been born.

Payment

All deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE once placed, as they are a holding fee for your future pick or current pick of available puppies. We accept checks, PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo for deposits and final payments. If final payment is being made at pick up, we only accept cash, NO EXCEPTIONS. You can pay for your puppy in full any time before pick up if that is your preference. Checks must be received and cleared in our account at least one week before picking up your pup. If we are flying your puppy, it must be paid in full before flying with our flight nanny. If we are holding a puppy for you past the pickup date, we require puppies to be paid in full by 8 weeks of age. If we are holding a puppy past 10 weeks of age, we charge $50 a week for boarding.

Visiting Puppies

For the health and safety of our puppies, we do not allow visitors to see them until they have received their first booster shots from our vet at 8 weeks of age. Puppies are much like newborn babies and rely on their mothers' immunity and the safety of our home to protect them from harmful viruses or diseases they can contract being brought in by unknowing visitors. We understand this is inconvenient for those wanting to make their pick in person and understand if this causes you to go elsewhere to find a puppy. We respect your decision. But the safety of our puppies comes first, as we also owe it to the other families waiting on their pups to keep the litter as safe and healthy as possible. Our vet advises this precaution, and we take it seriously.

Puppy Pricing

All our puppies are priced between $2500-$3000. Puppies priced at $3000 are my picks of their litter. These pups have the best conformation, build, and coat.  There are 1 to 2 picks typically per litter. Our prices reflect the quality of our puppy's breeding, health, and the care in which they are raised and socialized from birth till they go to their new homes. We breed purposefully and select our breeding dogs based on the qualities we strive for in our pups. Our priorities are healthy, beauty, coat, sharp intellect, and bold loving temperaments. The complete package.

Shipping - Flight Nanny

We do not ship our puppy's cargo. We have a Flight Nanny who will fly to your nearest airport and deliver your puppy. Flight Nanny prices vary but are typically between $400-$1200. During holidays pricing is typically $1000-$2000. If you live out of Arizona, you can also drive or fly to pick them up in person. We can personally deliver pups to our airport, Phoenix Sky Harbor, and meet you at the baggage claim doors. This helps make quick return flights easier. Do not book a flight without checking with us about dates first.

What We Look For In Our Puppies

Confirmation & Build: A very square and robust pup, with a straight sloping topline, correct angulation in the back legs, a high tail set with plenty of but behind it, and a proper brick-shaped head, is what we try to breed for. Nothing about a mini should feel toyish when you hold them; although small, they should feel solid and compact.

Size: The standard for the Miniature Schnauzer, as listed on the American Miniature Schnauzer Club, is 12” to 14” and weighs between 11 and 21lbs. The terms “Toy” and “Teacup” describe designer-bred dogs with other breeds mixed in to acquire non-breed standard colors and sizes. That is a simple truth. Designer-bred dogs are picked at birth for their color and birth weight to be a breeding dog. Not off their temperament, conformation, or build. You will not find a designer-bred dog that can meet up to the conformation standard set by the AMSC as they are not bred with the standard in mind; they are the product of years of breeding for color and weight. Making toyish poor started dogs. Our adults all average between 11 – 19lbs. We occasionally get pups that mature beyond or under this weight, but all of our dogs come from champion lines and hold the integrity of the breed standard in conformation and build. We do not guarantee size but give our best estimates based on weekly weight gain and previous puppy's and parent's sizes.

Color:Our schnauzers come in the three colors recognized by The American Miniature Schnauzer Club black, salt & pepper, and black & silver. The designer schnauzer colors of liver, parti, merle, and newer ones popping up daily come from mixed breeding. Yes, there were once parti and liver-colored schnauzers when the breed was first created. The liver and parti colors dogs you see today are not descended from those original dogs. Those dogs were bred out and did not make it to America. In the 90s dishonest breeders began mixing poodles and yorkies with the schnauzers to create the designer colored schnauzers. This was before DNA testing.

Coat: Because the schnauzer has Terrier, Affenpincher, and Poodle mixed in their background, their hair comes in various forms. We try to concentrate on breeding stock with dense/heavy to normal coats. Soft, dense hair that is wavey, not flat or sparse. A super-dense coat doesn't need brushing or products to look full days after grooming. The hair is thick and has natural volume. A normal coat has ample furnishings but, after brushing, will fall flatter as there isn't as much hair to add natural volume. A flat or thin coat is very sparse and can be seen through with so little hair; this is an improper coat. And none of our breeding stock has nor comes from thin-coated dogs.

What Our Puppies Come With

All our puppies go to their new homes freshly bathed and groomed with a one-year health guarantee against life-threatening inheritable genetic defects. Our vet will examine them, and you will receive their shot and worming record. They will be microchipped and come with their microchip registration. Puppies will have tails docked and dewclaws removed, and ears are left natural. Our puppies also come with a folder full of info on their current vaccinations, future vaccinations, spaying/neutering, training, grooming, feeding, etc. A copy of their parent's AKC pedigrees will be included. ALL PUPPIES ARE SOLD ON LIMITED REGISTRATION CONTRACTS AS COMPANIONS NOT TO BE BRED. If you want to register your puppy through the AKC, please let us know before taking them home at 8 weeks. If you request, we will provide your puppy's AKC registration papers AFTER you send us proof of spay/neuter at 6+ months of age. Also included in their binder is the standard for the miniature schnauzer's grooming chart.

*The puppy pack includes chews, toys, a comb, a blanket with the littermate's scent, and a week's supply of their current puppy food SmallBatch Freeze Dried Lamb. Go to our Preparing For Your Puppy page for the links to this food and other products we use. We litter-box train our puppies (like a cat), so potty training is an easier transition, and they come to you with established clean habits. Our puppy Pack includes a bag with paper pellets to help our puppies transition into their new routine with potty training and help prevent accidents.

Food & Treats

It's important with Miniature Schnauzer to pay attention to the fat content in the foods they eat. We try to keep the fat content of our dog food between 7-14% for adults. Schnauzers are prone to gaining weight and are known to develop diabetes, pancreatitis, etc., due to this. Keeping your adult schnauzer lean and fit quite literally can extend its life. So what you feed them is crucial. I've also found many schnauzers on kibble are prone to having allergies, skin issues, and/or sensitivities with digestion. I've found none of these issues with our dogs on our raw food. Or with others I've talked to that have their dogs on quality raw-based diets. We feed our adults and puppies SmallBatch Freeze-Dried, Lamb. This premium freeze-dried raw dog food has 78% lamb, 20% vegetables, and 2% natural minerals. This food is made in an FDA-inspected facility with human-grade organic ingredients, no added hormones or antibiotics, and has no recall history. This is the ingredient list, all fresh foods.  Lamb, lamb hearts, lamb necks (including bone), lamb livers, lamb spleens, squash, celery, cauliflower, green beans, salmon oil, bok choy, apple cider vinegar, kelp, dandelion, cilantro, wheatgrass, bilberry, garlic, thyme, oregano, vitamin E supplement. We feed our pups SmallBatch Freeze-Dried, Lamb topped with MaxMeats

Many health issues are caused by what you feed your dogs. Dry dog kibble is at the bottom of the list for what's healthy and balanced for a dog's body to digest. The dog food industry has no regulations.  Much of what is put in most kibble is not meant to be processed by a dog's digestive system. Dogs are very resilient, and their bodies tolerate a lot.  This doesn't mean there aren't hereditary issues that could come from genetics. But many issues like allergies, digestive sensitivities, cancers, and tartar build-up on teeth can come from reactions to improper food and the fillers and carbs in them. Please click on this LINK to read an article about kibble and its effect on your dog. Many vets ARE NOT educated on dog food brands and sell brands because corporations advertise to them.

I advise owners to feed fresh foods to their dogs as treats. DO NOT FEED THEM MORE PROCESSED TREATS from the store. Fresh, caught, water-packed sardines are a great treat. Feed your pups one a day OR intermittently as a treat. Or give them fish oil pills once a day. I get the big double pack of fish oil pills from Costco, and my adults all get one every day and love them. The benefits to their health are huge! Fish oil contains Omega-3 fatty acids important to pet neuromuscular development, skin health, and coat quality. I also like blueberries, apple slices, carrots, and green beans as treats. Also, the MaxMeat Air-Dried Brand we top our puppy's food with has a CHICKEN line. MaxMeats has a higher fat content; for this reason, I don't use it as a topper for my adult dogs, just my puppies, until they go to their new homes. It's air-dried, making it an easy training treat to have on hand. Think how much store-bought "treats" cost; most are harmful and do not add to your pet's overall health. For less cost, the treats I’ve mentioned are PACKED with nutrients that improve health, build your pet's immunity, and can help make up for a lot of nutrients lost when kibble is processed and baked. Click on this LINK for a list of what natural foods you can and can't feed your dog.

*We understand that adopting a puppy is a serious commitment and ask that you consider the responsibility and expense before proceeding. Puppies are a lifetime commitment that requires attention, patients, and love. The time you put into your future companion will be reflected in the type of dog they grow to be. So be ready to commit because they will be devoted to you. That being said, we try to set you up for success with the socializing we do with our puppies so they come to you balanced and ready to learn. The stipulations on the notification list, deposits, and payments are to create an organized, structured, and fair system for all parties involved and to protect against those who would be deceitful.
